I was capable of coming back home to New York to perform my clinical rotations which eventually gave me the opportunity to match into a New York City based residency program. It was clear to me from the beginning that the staff and administration were pioneers and leaders in medical education. They showed a great deal of commitment by investing in constructing a brand new state of the art campus while I was there.
Although the new campus opened shortly after I left the island, it was encouraging to watch its construction. It let us know that AUA was committed to investing back into its students, and here to stay for years to come. In fact, I felt like I came into my residency much more prepared than most of my peers.
